Kevin's Corner

My contribution to the Croud office end-of-week round-up was first named Kevin's Corner in 2019.

I began to script it once it was being delivered to camera from home, during the COVID-19 lockdowns. It was fun for me, and it worked well as a way we could bring everyone together at least once a week. That was important for people who might have been feeling isolated.

After we returned to the office, Kevin's Corner was still a regular item until mid-2023. I'm proud that when we moved into our office on Curtain Road, one of the meeting rooms was named Kevin's Corner.

Some are better than others.

I went for a run this morning which gave me the opportunity to admire the new paving that’s been laid on Greenford Avenue. That’s if you go out the front door, turn right and up the hill to the mai...

I prefer the radio in the kitchen in the morning, but when my wife gets there first we have the TV on. TV breakfast programmes are pretty lightweight in my view, especially the London regional one,...

I’ve noticed something. It’s not this, but I’ll just start by saying, my children are inconvenient. Because of my children I often leave the house at dawn - to avoid them. Lately I’ve been running...

Before I worked at Croud, I worked at the BBC. I would have started my job there about nine years ago. The building I worked in had a big area of one floor dedicated to the Future. Actually, the di...

The Corner in the Corner

Right, another Kevin’s Corner. I don’t know. A weird one? A weird one, or a normal one? Not weird, abstract. It’s got to be funny. Funny weird not clever weird. Always, always the cleverer it is ...

I returned to work on Tuesday from a long weekend spent with friends on the Isle of Wight. One of our evening activities was a quiz board game. Thanks to one question that came up, I’ve learned tha...

Open your eyes, open yourself and you’ll begin to see things. The ads you see - or just as often, don’t see - online will, sometimes, reveal something about you from deep inside. There’s an awful l...

I was doing a bit of work this morning - staring out of the window. I have a bay tree in a pot quite close to the garden fence, and the fence is covered in ivy. Heavily covered. I last trimmed the ...

On Wednesday, Diego Maradona died. He was one the greatest footballers ever, but in England we are understandably preoccupied with the goal he scored against us in the 1986 World Cup. A handball, t...

Dreams of Vulnerability

I normally spend just a couple of minutes writing Kevin’s Corner on Friday morning, but this week, I did it on Thursday morning. That’s because the detail of your dreams dissolves very quickly. At...
